Top Golf Courses in Arizona

Arizona is an ever growing State that is trying desperately to catch up with the times.  Where once lived stone and cacti, now we find manicured lawns, and sand traps.  Out of the 100 top golf courses in the United States, Arizona isn’t even ranking in the top 25.  Of courses the PGA tournament graces our presence twice a year, however the shops that offer the newest clubs, balls, and shaft seem to be scarce at best.  Cynical? Perhaps, but I’ve lived in Arizona for what’s going on 20 years, and have only met 10 natives.  Arizona is a melting pot.  A place where people from the Midwest, East Coast, Pacific Northwest, and Southern tri-tip have come with the hope of cooking up and building something that resembles Heaven in the desert.

Arizona Public Golf Courses Re-Visited

I could tell you of the top 5 courses here in Arizona, but what’s the point?  Unless you’re an internet mogul, or a self made millionaire, then you’re not going to play there.  I’m guessing that these places have a back log of common folk that goes back half a century.  A foursome that put in for 18 is now toasting they’re retirement.  High dollars means high privileges, and there’s no in changing this.  Don’t feel bad though, these places are between 1 and 5 hours out of your way.  Trust me; you’re not missing a damn thing.  If you can stand the “upper” crust zombies that shrill at the sight of mortal men and women who have the audacity to drink a beer then be my guest or someone else.  As far as I’m concerned, they can keep it all.

Enough with the bitterness!  Let me tell you now of the advantages of golf in Arizona.  One, you can golf in this land of sunsets all year round.  Two, the number of public courses is truly astounding.  EagleMtn Arizona 300x282 Top Golf Courses in ArizonaFew would argue that Arizona, with golf-loaded cities such as Scottsdale and Phoenix is one of the world’s top golf destinations. Arizona’s golf courses are as diverse and spectacular as its landscape. Across the state there are more than 300 courses, from traditional links-style tracks to target courses. Arizona possesses an abundance of golf courses to challenge your skills and provide you with some unbeatable vacation recreation. Three, even if you want a more exclusive, more private course, one that offers peace and quiet with no children you needn’t look any further.  Furthermore, you won’t have to take out a second mortgage on your home in order to accomplish this feat.

Golf Courses for the Regular “Joe”

Lastly, the not so private courses are held in the highest esteem by those who enjoy the game.  They’re not millionaires, they don’t have 37 sponsors, so for them to speak highly of a public course is something pretty damn special in my opinion.  But that’s my opinion on top golf courses in this state.
